Knollwood is a
small school, with maximum enrollment of 43 children and a remarkable
student-teacher ratio! Two teachers are assigned to the class of 13
two-year-olds. Two teachers are also assigned to the three- and
four-year-old classes, 15 students in each!
Many of
our teachers have been with Knollwood Preschool for over 10 years. It is
especially significant most of our teachers have their earned BA or AA
degrees in Early Childhood Education. That is the thing that truly sets us
apart from other primarily child care facilities. Most of our teachers are
mothers with an understanding of family values.
Often
student teachers from CSUN and local Community Colleges do their student
teaching at Knollwood, nurturing children in the present while
preparing themselves for their future careers.
We at
Knollwood aim to help children blossom intellectually and emotionally while,
at the same time, having purposeful fun along the way. When a child delights
in learning, the door to a lifetime of discovery and adventure is opened.
At
Knollwood we strive to meet each child's social, emotional,
intellectual and physical needs. We believe that children are happiest and
most secure when they have repeated opportunities to succeed each day. Much
of what we do is designed to facilitate self-confidence and self-esteem.
Parents
should know that at Knollwood the classroom curriculum, activities and
educational materials are tailored to the age and developmental stage of
each child.
We
welcome your questions, your visits and your participation in our program!
